After high school chemistry teacher Walter White receives a terminal lung cancer diagnosis, he is forced to find a way to secure his family's financial future. Drawing on his professional expertise, he decides to manufacture and sell methamphetamine. To carry out this plan, Walter recruits Jesse Pinkman, a former student whom he had previously helped get expelled from school. Pinkman already had experience cooking drugs, but shortly before meeting White, he had lost both his partner and his production setup in a police raid.
