Mabel, a student and ardent animal rights activist, is doing her best to protect a forest corner that has become a holy place for her grandmother from the encroachments of an ambitious mayor planning to build a high-speed highway. After learning about the innovative method of transferring human consciousness into robotic animal bodies developed by the professor, Mabel chooses the shape of a beaver without hesitation. She hurries into the thicket to persuade the wild inhabitants to return to their native clearing and thwart the cunning mayor's plans.
